A bumper structure comprising a bumper reinforcement (5), a bumper fascia (6) extending along and located in front of the bumper reinforcement (5), and an impact absorber (7) arranged between the bumper reinforcement (5) and the bumper fascia (6). The bumper reinforcement (5) extends in a lateral direction of a vehicular body and is attached to the vehicular body. The bumper reinforcement (5) has a front surface (8) in a stepped or tapered shape so that retreat at the lower portion thereof is greater than at the upper portion. The impact absorber (7) has upper and lower portions (9, 10), the lower portion (10) being longer and stronger than upper portion (9). The impact absorber (7) has a rear surface (8) in a stepped or tapered shape such that the rear surface (8) of the lower portion (10) projects toward the bumper reinforcement (5) with respect to the rear surface (8) of the upper portion (9) to face the front surface (8) of the bumper reinforcement (5).
