The motor vehicle has a hood (2) supported on the vehicle body (14) at a leading end with a supporting device (3) when closed and mounted at the rear to be movable from a normal position rearwards and/or upwards into a deflection position. The supporting device is mounted at its lower end to pivot about a horizontal transverse pivot axle (5) and has an angled linkage (4) with an actuator (10) that is operated in a collision.
