Filtering device and filter element

The filter unit has a filter element (10) fitted in a filter housing which has a locating face upon which lies a sealing plate (17) formed on the filter element. The sealing plate has a design bend point (16) so that when the filter element is fitted in the housing the sealing plate bends from out of its plane of extension. The sealing plate has a reinforcing (15) in the region of the design bend point and this may be in the form of a coating of material such as resin or adhesive applied to the sealing plate.
