Hydrostatic drive and its control method

The drive has at least one hydraulic pump (3) and several hydraulically operated hydraulic motors (6-9) connected to the pump, whereby each motor has an associated revolution rate sensor (20-23) connected to a control unit (24). A braking device (26-29) that interacts with each motor is connected to the control unit, which activates a brake if its associated motor's speed exceeds a predetermined threshold value. Independent claims are also included for the following: a method of operating a hydrostatic propulsive drive.
