An apparatus and a method for controlling an engine

DRIVE June 9, 2004

If an interruption in the flow of force between the drive unit of the vehicle and the drive wheels is detected, the engine control device of the internal combustion engine reduces the engine torque before a revolution controller sets the engine speed to a desired value. The engine torque is preferably limited to a value that is larger than the instantaneous engine torque. Independent claims are included for an apparatus for controlling an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle, and for an engine control device.
