Electronic device and method incorporating capacitive water detection means
DRIVE
June 9, 2004
Portable device, e.g. a diver's or waterproof watch (1), has a plurality of capacitive sensors for detecting the presence of water around the watch. The watch also has a pressure sensor and means for measuring and monitoring the capacitance of the capacitance sensors. When at least a number of the capacitors undergo a capacity change between two readings, then the detection of the presence of water is validated. An Independent claim is made for a method for detecting the presence of water around a portable device, especially a watch.
