Vehicle roof with locking mechanism

The sunroof has at least one roof panel (20) which closes a roof opening in a fixed roof surface (12,14) in its closed position and which is lifted for at least partially revealing the roof opening, a locking mechanism preventing lifting of the roof panel in its closed position. The locking mechanism has a number of locking elements (24,44), cooperating with catch elements attached to the fixed roof surface in the locked position, a drive mechanism with a drive cable (30,52) used for displacement of the locking elements along guide rails (28) between their locked and released positions.
