The pneumatic tire, and especially for bicycles, has at least one rubber carcass (1) which is anchored at the bead (3) by being wrapped around the bead core (2). The tire has a rubber running tread surface (5) and rubber layers (4) at the side walls. A new tire has a rubber layer (6) over the outer side and at least over the tread, with a thickness of at most0.5 mm, with a high shear resistance.
