The burner has a combustion chamber housing (12), an evaporator medium (22) for receiving a liquid fuel and for supplying the fuel vapor to the combustion chamber (18) and a heating coil (26) for heating the evaporator medium, positioned on the opposite side of the latter to the combustion chamber. An ignition section (34) of the heating coil device projects from the heating section (28) and extends through the evaporation medium into the combustion chamber.
