Radar system and method for the surveillance of car surroundings

A car (10) environment radar system (16) has a central unit with low and high frequency subsystems connected by high frequency cable or waveguide to bumper (12, 14) fitted metallised plastic sensors with preamplifiers and only rudimentary processing and greater than 180 degree detection (24) angle (26).
