The apparatus has a retainer (74) which traps a bearing in a bearing seat (60). The retainer is connected to a support (58) at a fulcrum (76) and is pivotally movable about the fulcrum between an open position (OP) in which the bearing is removable from the bearing seat, and a closed position (CL) in which the bearing is trapped in the bearing seat. The support defines the bearing seat for receiving the bearing. An independent claim is also included for a method of retaining in position a center-bearing of vehicle drive shaft.
