The reinforcing member (1) has a flat first portion (14) connected to a vehicle door (2), and a cylindrical second portion (15) connected to a hinge (4). The first and second portions consist of two separate members (16,18) connected rigidly to each other. An independent claim is also included for a vehicle door.
