Floating nozzle collar for capless filler neck

A filler neck closure assembly (10) for a vehicle fuel tank filler neck. The assembly includes a nozzle receiver (30) adapted to be coupled to a fuel tank filler neck (14), and a fuel-discharge control collar (32) formed to include a collar aperture (60) adapted to receive therein a fuel-dispensing pump nozzle (24) inserted into the nozzle receiver (30) during fuel tank refueling. The fuel-discharge collar (32) is positioned to move in a pump nozzle-receiving passageway (64) in order to open or block a discharge channel (128).
