System for delaying the intake valve closing time in an engine
DRIVE
May 6, 2004
The system has a cam assembly to move an intake valve (32) between two positions to stop and to allow a flow of fluid, respectively. A fluid actuator stops the valve from moving to one of the positions. A directional control valve is placed between a source and the actuator. A restricted orifice is placed between an accumulator and fluid passageway, which connects the control valve and the actuator. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling an engine having a piston.
