INFLATOR FOR AIR BAG
DRIVE
May 6, 2004
An inflator for an air bag comprises a combustion chamber for storing gas generating agent formed bodies for producing gas by combustion and an ignition device for igniting the gas generating agent formed bodies, stored in a housing with a gas outlet. The gas generating agent formed bodies contain metallic components, and the combustion flame temperature (theoretical value) of the gas generating agent formed bodies must be 2000[deg]C or below, a part or all of metals or metallic oxides after the combustion of the gas generating agent formed bodies have a melting point equal to or higher than the combustion flame temperature and when the gas generating agent formed bodies are burned, lump-like combustion residue must remain in the combustion chamber.
