A plasma ignition process for a gas-air mixture in a combustion engine forms a plasma in a fore chamber by adiabatically compressing a small portion of the mixture to 100 bar and 800degrees C and injecting the plasma directly into the combustion chamber via a capillary where it ignites the main portion of the gas-air mixture.
