Decomposable composition for the generation of hydrogen by a self-maintaining combustion reaction initiated by a suitable heat source, the composition comprising an alkaline borohydride and strontium nitrate. Independent claims are also included for the process of generation of hydrogen and fuel cells using hydrogen as a fuel.
