The device (10) for forming small depth impressions (2) in a surface (3) of a part (1) comprises a cylindrical tool (11) formed by a body (12) comprising a reference cylinder (13) which is applied on the surface. There is a crown (14) coaxial with the cylinder provided on its outer surface with a series of projecting elements (15) each comprising an active part of complementary shape to the impressions. A connecting part (16) enables the tool to be rotated and vertically displaced along the surface by a machine tool spindle (30).
