Sliding roof for a motor vehicle

The sunroof has a sliding panel for opening or closing a sunroof opening, its horizontal movement guided via front and rear guides (30) having an angled front section for vertical movement of the sliding panel. A drive (60) cooperates with the front guide for controlling the rearwards and forwards movement of the sliding panel, with a telescopic connection (49,66,67,68) between the drive and the front guide, allowing vertical movement of the front guide relative to the drive for lifting the sliding panel.
