The headlamp, comprising a housing (2) containing a light source, covered by a protective lens, has at least part of the inner or outer surface of the lens covered by a transparent film (6) that can absorb at least part of the energy and/or retain at least some of the glass fragments in the event in the event of it suffering an impact. The film material is between 0.1 and 0.4 mm thick, in one or more layers, and has stretch properties. It can be fixed to the lens by adhesive, over-molding or bi-injection, or sprayed on in liquid form.
