The device has an extraction element (11) with at least one section of a tubular body (12) with at least one constriction (16) and an axially movable bearer (15) for an attachment element for attachment to the vehicle and a deformation body (27) for absorbing kinetic crash energy. The bearer has a thickened end (17) with a larger cross-sectional area than that of the axial section. In a crash the constriction provides a thrust block for the deformation body and the thickened end has thrust surfaces (34) for thrust deformation of the body.
