Water-cooled vertical engine and outboard motor equipped therewith

A thermostat is provided at an engine upper part above an endless transmission to control the flow of cooling water in a water jacket. The driving force of a crankshaft (13) is transmitted to a camshaft. An independent claim is also included for an outboard motor.
