Composite display device and a method for driving the same

A composite display device (11) comprises first display member and second display member disposed between first display member and viewing point of a viewer (14). The second display member comprises an electro-optical element (2) which transmits light when voltage is not applied and scatters light when voltage is applied. Light transmittance when voltage is not applied is at least 80 percent. An independent claim is also included for a method for driving composite display device.
