The vehicle sliding door includes parallel lamellae (11) forming a shutter. The shutter is supported between an exterior rail (12) and an interior rail (13), defining a channel. A retractable clamping system (14,15) is provided for locking the shutter in an intermediate or the closed position. The sliding door for a vehicle includes a number of parallel linked lamellae (11) joined by hinged joints along their edges to form a shutter. The shutter is displaced vertically to open or close the doorway. The lamella are supported between an exterior rail (12) and an interior rail (13), defining a channel through which the shutter runs. A retractable clamping system (14,15) is provided for locking the lamellae between the two rails (12,13), either in an intermediate position or in the closed position. This ensures a seal when in the closed position. The clamping system includes a control mechanism (17,18) comprising a pair of levers, arranged to move the locking device against the inside surface of the lamellae in order to retain the shutter in a chosen position.
