DRIVE
March 10, 2004
A wall flow-type particulate filter (3) for collecting particulates in exhaust gas is provided at a position along the length of an exhaust passageway (5) of an internal combustion engine (1), and an alkaline metal catalyst (8) which contains no noble metal is carried on an upstream side of a collecting wall of the particulate filter (3), whereas an occlusion type NOx catalyst (7) is carried on a downstream side of the collecting wall of the particulate filter (3).
