The device has two clamp elements, each with a wedge surface and an opposing spreader part. The wedge surfaces face each other, fit inside each other and can be joined. The clamp elements are clamped with spreader parts engaging pockets of profile parts by bridging their butting end surfaces. The clamp elements are flat and each has a first long edge forming the spreader part and a second long edge with one second long edge enclosing the other. The device has first and second clamp elements (1,2), each with a wedge surface (3,11) and an opposing spreader part (4,12), whereby the wedge surfaces face each other, fit inside each other and can be joined together. The clamp elements are clamped with their spreader parts engaging pockets of the profile parts by bridging the butting end surfaces of the profile parts. The first and second clamp elements are flat, and each has a first long edge (4,12) forming the spreader part and a second long edge so that one second long edge encloses the other second long edge. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: (a) an arrangement of profile parts with an inventive wedge clamp for use in automobile construction.
