At least one of the heat exchangers for product water recovery has a condensate water outlet connection and a heat pump forming an evaporator with a condenser thermally connected to a return for a heating circuit. The system has a gas generation unit (1) heated by a gas burner (12) for converting hydrocarbon gas and water into hydrogen and further reformer products and a fuel cell (2), preferably a polymer membrane fuel cell, for converting the hydrogen into electrical energy and heat, whereby heat exchangers (6) can optionally be arranged on feed, outlet and/or connecting lines (5).
