Method and apparatus for positioning two objects in relation to each other

The positioning method uses a transmitter (6) positioned at the longitudinal axis (A3) of the trailer vehicle (3), for providing a signal beam (10) with a defined radiation angle, received by a receiver (7) with adjacent reception elements extending on either side of the longitudinal axis (A2) of the tractor vehicle (2), coupled to a microcontroller (8) for alignment of the longitudinal axes. An independent claim for a relative positioning device for cooperating tractor-trailer coupling halves is also included.
