An accelerator actuated emergency braking apparatus

An enhanced emergency brake assist apparatus 23 is disclosed including an accelerator pedal 29 operated by the driver coupled to a braking system 26 and used to control the overall vehicle speed. When a forward detection apparatus 20 detects an imminent contact, the braking system 26 automatically applies braking force to the vehicle after the driver fully releases the accelerator pedal 29.
