Method to optimize the tanking of trains

A precision measurement of engine (1) fuel consumption is taken, to determine instantaneous values. These are entered into the main internal computer (22). Integrated consumption is also calculated, from the tank (18) level. The computer (22) in the rail vehicle (2) is connected via e.g. GSM (24, 27) (mobile radio system) to an external management computer (35). GPS (satellite location) signals are entered into the computer (22), to determine the position of the rail vehicle. An independent claim is included for corresponding equipment.
