Integrated start generator for a turbomachine
DRIVE
January 21, 2004
The compressor (2) includes at least one disc provided with blades (9) which are movable along a large spiral path. The inductor (22) is mounted inside a cavity (23) in this disc. The turbomachine (1) comprises a combustion chamber and a high pressure body. An axial compressor located upstream the chamber in the body is used to supply air to the chamber. A turbine located downstream from the chamber receives hot gases from the latter and drives a compressor rotor (3). The compressor contains a number of compression stages, each with a ring of blades (5) fixed to a casing and a ring of mobile blades (9) extending radially towards the periphery of a compressor disc. The turbomachine contains an electrical current generator (20) extending coaxial to the body. The generator has an inductor fixed to and rotating with the compressor rotor and has a stator coil (24) fixed to the casing. The inductor surrounds the stator coil. The generator is designed to start the turbomachine. An Independent claim is also included for a second turbomachine with a generator inductor mounted in a cavity formed by the discs in two successive compressor stages.
