Control system for plunger-type fuel pump
DRIVE
January 21, 2004
An internal combustion engine (3) includes an injector (4) that injects fuel into a cylinder. A plunger-type fuel pump (8) pumps the fuel to the injector (4) from a fuel tank (6). A control system (50) for the fuel pump (8) includes a unit (10) for determining an injection start timing of the injector (4), and a drive unit (10) for driving the fuel pump (8) for a second predetermined time that starts a first predetermined time earlier than the injection start timing. This control system (50) makes stable combustion possible even when there are pressure variations in the fuel pumped to the injector (4).
