The cradle (2) fitted in an engine (1) by mounting bolts (6) has bearing covers (5) on the cylinder block side and a sealing surface between the cradle and the cylinder block, surrounding the cradle. The resting surface (53) between the bearing cover and the cradle is raised above the level of the surrounding sealing surface (54).
