Sensor for detecting the relative position of two parts
DRIVE
January 2, 2004
The sensor for measuring the position between two parts that move relative to each other comprises a magnetic field generator and a magnetic field detector fitted to a component that moves relative to the first component. The detector is rod shaped and moves within the magnetic field of the field generator along its own longitudinal axis. The field produced by the field generator is largely homogenous over a region corresponding to a multiple of the diameter of the magnetic field detector.
