Intercooling process and intercooled gas turbine engine
DRIVE
January 2, 2004
The intercooling method is for a gas turbine engine with first (1) and second (2) compressor stages and a combustion chamber (3) and turbine (4). The intercooler (9) is positioned between the two compressor stages. The intercooler is at least partially or largely isotropic. The cooling can occur at a flow point in the intercooler with a higher Mach number than the cooler inlet. Claims include a gas turbine using the method.
