January 2, 2004
The adaptive method for regulation of the space between two road vehicles travelling in the same direction involves establishing rules for vehicle acceleration dependent on road conditions and driver style. The distance is regulated by a control interface on the vehicle steering wheel. The rule for adjusting the vehicle distance is first set and then modified following pressure on the accelerator pedal.
