Column for furniture

The support column has a support tube (1) receiving a guide sleeve (9) with an inner mantle surface for guiding a carrier tube (7) provided by a guide tube (8), with an annular insertion region (10) at its end having an outer mantle surface received in the support tube. Peripherally spaced radial projections provided around the outside of the guide tube contact the inside wall of the support tube for defining open chambers (11), communicating with the interior of the guide tube via openings (12).
