Bumper beam and motor vehicle comprising such a beam

The impact absorbing beam for a motor vehicle has a frontal area (7) for light impact absorption and a rear area (6) for heavier absorption. The front area has ribs (22) of plastic defining cells (28,30). The rear area has a metallic frame (9) onto which the plastic of the front area is moulded. The moulded plastic in the rear area can form reinforcing ribs.
