Passenger (2, 3) seats (4, 5) have actuators (9, 10). Should a collision occur, the impact accelerates the bodywork in a particular direction (a). On detection of the collision, the actuators displace the seats from their normal positions (I), in a direction opposing the bodywork acceleration, to reach an impact position (II).
