The engine may be of the self-ignition or plug ignition type. It has 14 cylinders (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14) arranged in banks. The ignition sequence of cylinders 1-7 takes place in groups of one cylinder and/or two cylinders and/or three cylinders in succession, or simultaneously, or partly in succession. The numbering of the cylinders begins in sequence at one of the two ends of the cylinder banks.
