Hydrogen generation system (42). A source of sodium borohydride is carried on a flexible substrate (10) that moves from a feed roll (12) to a takeup roll (14). A reaction among sodium borohydride, a catalyst and water (7) evolves hydrogen and forms a by-product (9) that is removed from the reaction area (8).
