An Independent claim is also included for an alternative voltaic cell element having a cell lid whose outer surface is coated with a nickel-free copper/tin/zinc (Cu/Sn/Zn) alloy. Preferably the alloy contains 20-90% copper, 50-60% copper and the remainder Sn, or 75-85% copper and the remainder Sn. The outer and inner sides of the cell lid and the inner and/or outer sides of the cell vessel are coated with the alloy. The coating is 0.05-10 microns thick.",
