Control unit for a motor vehicle

Control arrangement for a motor vehicle comprises a control unit (1), that is linked via a data bus (2) to actuator (4) electronic control modules (3). Signals are continuously or periodically transmitted over the data bus by the control unit. Subsequent to an accident, the control modules assume control of their corresponding actuator elements if they do not detect a control signal for longer than a predetermined time interval on the control data bus.
