Electric positional actuator

An electric positional actuator (14) that includes a default device (66) for positioning the actuated device in a default position. The actuator (14) includes an electric motor (26) that controls the rotational position of a shaft (18) through a gear system (28, 30, 32, 34). When the shaft (18) rotates, it moves a link-bar (16) that actuates the actuated device. A rotational sensor (60) coupled to a printed circuit board (56) detects the position of the shaft (18), and provide a feedback signal of the shaft's (18) position. The default device (66) includes a spring (72) wrapped around the shaft (18). When the link bar (16) is rotated away from its default position, one leg (76) of the spring (72) remains in contact with a housing spring boss (80) while the other leg (78) of the spring (72) is in contact with the link bar (16) opposing the movement and trying to return the link-bar (16) to the default position.
