Line-of-Sight detecting through a microphone

The method identifies the viewing direction of the driver (2) relative to the travel direction (10) from the speaking direction, obtained by using a direction-selective microphone or microphone array (3a,3b,3c) installed in the automobile (1) for picking up speech signals, with evaluation of the speech signals for use by a communications system via a speech analyzer (4). An Independent claim for a viewing direction identification device is also included.
