A shock absorbing device (10) for a vehicle trim comprises a plurality of shock absorbing ribs (11,12) provided on the exterior surface of a trim (2) provided on the interior side of a side panel of a vehicle. The shock absorbing ribs (11,12) are formed to protrude toward the side panel side, being disposed coaxially with provision of a predetermined space (S). In the shock absorbing device (10), at least part of the upper side of an outer rib (11) in two adjacent pieces of the shock absorbing ribs (11,12) is made open and is formed into a shape in which both open ends thereof are positioned more outward than an inner rib (11), and the protruding length of the outer rib (12) is longer than that of the inner rib (11).
