The rotary actuator (7) has a rotor and a coaxial stator (9) provided with a number of energizing windings, with direct switching of the latter for bringing the rotor into a required angular position, e.g. via a single multi-stage electrical switch. The energizing windings can be provided by respective winding blocks (15), each provided with an annular yoke.
