The impact absorbing chassis beam for a motor vehicle has a section (4) with two impact dampers (6) and a bar (15) forming a middle zone extending longitudinally between the dampers. The dampers are spaced from the bar. Each damper has a junction zone (30) connecting a side face (14) of the damper with a side face of the bar. The junction zone can have a flattened rib. Claims include a vehicle chassis using the impact dampers.
