The loading platform (10) for a motor vehicle has couplings (26,36) to the vehicle load bed (16) frame (14). The platform has a linkage (20) with a first lifting arm and cylinder (24). A second lifting arm (32) has a compensator plate (54) connected by a link (80). The compensator is also connected to the cylinder (34) by a link (76) and between the compensator and second lifting arm is a spring (40).
