Sensors (11) measure the temperature, pressure and mass flow of air admitted (9) to a diesel engine which receives fuel from injectors (7) and the air from an exhaust driven turbocompressor (4). During any post injection fuel/air supply on the expansion stroke made in order to clean the particle filter a processor (12) ensures efficient burning by using the sensor data to control the turbocompressor and air supply
